Wool Care
With the right care, you will enjoy your Coastland textiles for decades. And when the time comes, you can share their warmth with the next generation.

Airing Instead of Washing
Our products are made from pure new wool. Pure new wool has outstanding properties. It is moisture and heat regulating, antibacterial and self-cleaning. Our wool blankets do not need to be washed. Airing outdoors is the best way to freshen up a wool textile. All you need to do is hang the wool outside in high humidity for a few hours. This revitalizes the wool fibres, straightens them and house dust and dirt are easily removed from the fibres.

Do Not Machine Wash or Tumble Dry
Our wool is completely untreated. It is therefore not suitable for the washing machine or tumble dryer, as this can damage both the fabric and the wool. The wool blankets could shrink, become matted or warp. We also do not recommend hand washing.

Targeted Treatment of Stains
Stains or soiling can be dabbed out with a cold damp cloth, even with a drop of washing-up liquid, and rinsed out with clear water. Please avoid vigorous scrubbing. In the event of very heavy soiling, we recommend taking our wool product to an experienced specialist cleaner.

Air Drying
Ideally, the fabric should be dried in a draughty, dry and warm climate. It should be laid flat and straight to avoid creases and maintain its shape. Avoid direct sunlight and never use a tumble dryer.

Protection from Moths
If you do not use your Coastland textiles for a longer period of time, store them accordingly. Moths prefer pure wool and like to lay their eggs in windless, shady or dark and undisturbed places. This is where the larvae hatch and produce the visible and annoying feeding marks. Therefore: store wool in a light place, move it around and store it in a moth-proof bag if you are away for a longer period of time. As a preventative measure, you can use a high-quality moth repellent spray containing lavandin and neem oil, which are natural, non-toxic and effective. The scent of cedar wood also repels moths naturally.

Matting and Pilling
As our products have no chemical additives and are not treated with silicone, the wool fibers can become entangled and the surface can change in appearance. This does not diminish the soft and warming effect. For us, the naturalness of the wool blanket is paramount. Felting is therefore a sign of quality.

Light Irradiation
Natural or dyed wool fibers can change color (fade) when exposed to direct and intense sunlight. Products made from natural white wool are particularly affected by this.

Wear and Tear
Our wool blankets are made to cover yourself with. They are not suitable as an underblanket, mattress protector, sofa or armchair cover. Constant friction can lead to felting and abrasion of the wool, which can damage the surface or the fabric.
